Research
Major research interests include control, modeling, estimation, and diagnosis of dynamical systems, specifically for engine, powertrain, aftertreatment, hybrid, flexible fuel, alternative / renewable energy, (electric) ground vehicle, transportation, and mechatronic systems.
Dr. Wang has 5-years of full-time industrial research experience (May 2003 - August 2008) at Southwest Research Institute (San Antonio, Texas) where he was a Senior Research Engineer and led research projects sponsored by many industrial companies worldwide. Dr. Wang is the Vice Chair of the SAE Control and Calibration Committee, and member of the ASME Automotive and Transportation Technical Committee, the ASME Mechatronics Technical Committee, and the IEEE Technical Committee on Automotive Control. He has published more than 45 papers and holds 8 U.S. patents.
