Research
Probability-based life/reliability prediction/design methodologies to ensure structural integrity, reliability, safety & maintainability (with current emphasis on the applications in aging aircraft, gas turbine high cycle fatigue, submarine pipeline/offshore systems); Smart materials/adaptive structures (with current emphasis on the subjects of Passive/Active vibration controls using a novel magnetomechanical coating material, on-line health monitoring/diagnostics and space structures motion & vibration controls); High Cycle Fatigue; Computer aided design and structural optimization (with current emphasis on the applications in composite materials such as "Advanced Grid Stiffened Composite Structures", "Manufacturing Process Design of Filament Wound Composite Cylindrical Shells", and "The Composite Chamber Cores"); and Next generation methodologies in manufacturing. (with current emphasis on the subjects of quality/reliability improvement of manufacturing process, reliability design methodologies, on-line monitoring & process control of assembly line production, and probability-based predictive maintenance technology)
