Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU), a consortium of Ph.D. granting academic institutions that promotes collaborative partnerships to enhance scientific research and education in the U.S., recently named assistant professor Junmin Wang as a Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award winner. Wang is one of 30 individuals out of 118 nominees to win the award. He will be receiving a $10,000 grant, courtesy of ORAU and Ohio State, which will serve as seed money for his research.  

“I will be using this award to develop control-oriented models for systematic renewable and fossil fuel-property adaptive diesel engine control methods,” Wang said. “This can potentially achieve real-world optimal engine fuel efficiency and emissions despite the wide fuel property variations caused by the increasingly diversified fuel supplies. This award will assist me in initiating research which is of great importance because of the future energy and environmental impacts in the transportation sector.” 

The Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award is intended to enrich the research and professional growth of young faculty and result in funding opportunities. In order to be eligible for the award, nominees must be full-time assistant professors at ORAU member institutions within two years of their initial tenure track appointment and there can be only two nominees from each ORAU member institution.
