James Schmiedeler
Jim Schmiedeler received the B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from University of Notre Dame in 1996, and the Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering from The Ohio State University, in 1998 and 2001, respectively. In August 2003, he returned to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Ohio State as an Assistant Professor. His research interests include legged locomotion in robotic and biological systems and the biomechanics of human movement.
Eric Westervelt
Eric R. Westervelt received the B.S. degree in computer and systems engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1997 and 2003, respectively. In 2003 he joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Ohio State University as an assistant professor. His research interests include the theory and practice of control as applied to mechanical systems with particular application to legged machines, prosthetics and hybrid electric vehicles.
