Abstract:

Results from the numerical simulation of supersonic combustion in model and full scale combustors will be presented. The talk will highlight fundamental issues in supersonic combustion and in supersonic development. It is established that CFD can play a major role in the design and testing of supersonic combustors. The predictions of the calculations are validated against experimental data for several fuels and injection schemes in model combustor geometries. Finally, results for a full scale concept combustor and a comparison with experimental data are presented.
