Food and Drink
No eating or drinking in the computer labs (except for room N151: see below)
Guidelines
Food may be in the lab if and only if it is not visible and not eaten. Clear water bottles are allowed if they remain sealed (no drinking permitted). Bottles, cups, etc. containing fluids other than water (e.g. coffee, soda) must remain sealed and may not be visible.
Penalty
Loss of 100 print-quota units for first violation; with the penalty doubled for subsequent violations. The intent of the rule is to prevent damage to the equipment and maintain the high quality conditions of the workspace; penalties will be reserved for flagrant abuse of the no eating and no drinking policy.
To mitigate motivation for eating and drinking in the labs, tables and chairs are provided for eating and drinking at two locations: near the door to E200 and near the door to E203. Scarfing of food and quaffing of drinks is allowed in the briefing rooms (W277, W280, W282).
Water-drinking Lab
Drinking water is permitted in room N151.
Quiet Lab
Room E205 is designated as a quiet lab. Students will self-enforce this policy.
