Teaching Activities and Accomplishments

  • Developed an innovative graduate sequence on noise & vibration control in partnership with GM.
  • Introduced new courses in acoustics, machine dynamics, and digital signal processing.
  • Developed a comprehensive and unique undergraduate honors program.

Research Interests and Activities

  • Machine dynamics, acoustics, vibrations, non-linear dynamics, fluid control and signal processing.
  • Directed over 10 million dollars of sponsored research and grant programs, over the past 2 decades.
  • Sponsors: US Army, NASA, NSF, Chrysler, GM, Ford, Goodyear, Nissan, Bosch, IBM, etc.
  • Co-Directed DOD - URI project on Rotorcraft Transmission Dynamics ($1.88m, ‘92-99).
  • Directed Ohio Board of Regents Grant on Acoustics & Vibration Instrumentation ($1.85m, ‘96-‘02).
  • PI, NSF sponsored I/UCRC on “Smart Vehicle Concepts” (2006-).
